Tremé

The Neighborhood

New Orleans' Tremé neighborhood, also referred to as the Faubourg Tremé, is home to cultural centers and museums honouring the area’s African-American and Creole roots. The birthplace of jazz, Tremé is a hub for live music, and celebrates jazz legend Louis Armstrong with Armstrong Park and the musician’s memorial. Pay a visit to St. Augustine’s church, watch a jazz show at one of the area’s many jazz bars, or catch an outdoor movie in Armstrong Park.

There's plenty to offer within walking distance. For New Orlean's best dining, try Lüke for some French/German fare, or Acme Oyster House for some Cajun-Creole classics. To check out the second-oldest public park in New Orleans, visit Lafayette Square, which faces both Gallier Hall and the Fifth Circuit Court of Appeals. Take a streetcar to explore the rest of the city, or grab the RTA just 3-4 blocks away.
