The Neighborhood

Stroll cobblestone streets past old churches and ochre-colored buildings, sip coffee in shady piazzas with hanging plants and flowers spilling from the balconies, and enjoy a more authentic, local taste of Rome in Trastevere, the former working-class district on the west bank of the Tiber, where Romans and visitors alike unwind on the steps of the fountains and enjoy life’s small pleasures in the neighborhood’s many charming boutiques, vibrant restaurants and bars, sidewalk cafes, and small museums.

There's plenty to offer within walking distance. For some authentic Italian food, head to Tonnarello. Or grab a delicious Roman dish at Trattoria Da Enzo. For shopping, check out the Galleria Alberto Sordi shopping mall. After all that dining and shopping, take a break from the busy city life and enjoy beautiful nature views at Parco del Gianicolo. To explore the rest of the city, hop on the train at the Circo Massimo station.
